Welcome to our Final sale of 2024
This is our last auction catalogue and sale for 2024 marking the tenth sale this year and taking us to some 3,000 lots offered in 2024. With the capital value of sales already standing at well over £280 Million after the auction on Tuesday 17th December, I forecast our sales will comfortably exceed £300 Million for the year.
Throughout the course of this year, and since we returned to an auction venue in September 2021, we have seen more and more buyers opt to attend the auction and bid in person. In fact, we remain the only national auctioneer that provides this service, our sellers and buyers love it. In my view it is the only way to properly experience an auction and whilst others have tried and given up, I remain bewildered why an auctioneer wouldn’t want to conduct their sales in this way. Our selling clients agree which is one of the reasons more and more sellers are utilising our auction service which in turn, offers our buyers a huge choice of lots.
With this in mind, if you are thinking of buying at this auction or, want to see what a live auction is all about, come along to The Grand Connaught Rooms on Tuesday 17th and see the action for yourself. In fact, whilst in London why not combine your property shopping with a bit of Christmas shopping! The London lights look fabulous this year.
Before your come to the auction there are a few things to remember and make sure you are properly prepared and a prudent buyer:
We are holding literally hundreds of open house viewings so pop into the property at the time stated. Please be there at the published time, our viewers have a schedule to get through and simply cannot hang around for people who turn up late. If there are severe weather conditions in the location of a property you want to view it’s well worth giving us a call on the day of the viewing or checking our website to make sure the viewing is going ahead. Our teams of people throughout the country will make every effort but, if we’re facing snow drifts it is most likely our agents will have as much trouble getting to the property as you do!
You also need to download the legal pack and take advice on all the content of this from your solicitor or conveyancer before you bid. When you bid at our auction, regardless of whether bidding in person, online, via the telephone or proxy bidding, you are bidding to buy. On the fall of the gavel, you have exchanged a legally binding contract which will be enforced.
Finally, get all your finances in place both to pay the deposit and in readiness for completion. Once you have done these, you are ready to come to the auction and buy!
If you can’t get to the auction you can bid via telephone or register for online bidding. Registration requires a few steps due to anti-money laundering regulations. These are not steps that we impose, they are a legal requirement and so whilst I appreciate it can be a little time consuming, these are legal requirements imposed on us so, please start your registration nice and early so we can process your application in good time for you to bid, alternatively, come to the auction – it really is an exciting place to watch property sell in real time and who knows, you could grab yourself an unexpected bargain!
My teams at our various auction centres are ready to assist with all your enquiries, so give us a call or email us with any questions you have and we’ll be straight back to you and help you get ready for the auction. We look forward to seeing you at The Grand Connaught Rooms on Tuesday 17th December with the auction starting at 9:30 am prompt.
If we don’t see you there or speak to you between now and the auction let me take this opportunity to thank you for your business throughout 2024, wish you seasons greetings and a prosperous 2025 where we hope to see you at one or more of our auctions throughout next year!
