Introducing our 9th March Auction Sale
Welcome to our second national auction for 2022 where we continue to hold our sale at our venue of The Grand Connaught Rooms offering bidders the choice of attending the sale, bidding online, bidding live on the phone or sending us a proxy bid so we can bid on your behalf.
Whilst Covid restrictions continue to be relaxed, we remain focused on ensuring that the auction venue is as safe as we can possibly make it for those attending the sale and we encourage bidders to attend for a number of reasons. Since returning to venue based sales in September last year we have gathered a huge amount of data from all bidders whether they be successful buyers or those who bid but just missed out on their purchase by one bid! This data shows a number of reasons why you are best placed to come to the auction as a buyer and why you probably have the best chance of making a successful purchase.
If you are bidding remotely we need you to complete a registration, carry out an ID check and pay a security deposit. For those attending the sale all registration and ID verification can be done on the day and as a bidder attending the sale in person there is no requirement to pay a security deposit.
Whilst our platform is very stable for internet bidders – we run three back-up systems running all the time, so if one fails, another will step in with no interruption – we do know that internet connectivity for some is not as reliable as one might like. The odd interruption whilst on google or downloading a film to watch on holiday is acceptable but, if your internet connection drops out at the very time you want to bid that is an entirely different issue and you may end up missing out on the lot you really wanted or a bargain! We know this can happen and internet and software issues prevented one auctioneer recently from completing their auction resulting in it being rescheduled for another day.
For many buyers bidding at this auction, it may not only be your first auction experience but could well be your only one! Our auction rooms are fast paced and exciting and in one day, could see some £30million of property sold. Why wouldn’t you want to experience this for yourself, be in the centre of all the action and have a chance of featuring in Homes under The Hammer?
And lastly, from all the sales we have exchanged at auction since September, the vast majority of these transactions are to buyers who attended the sale in person. They were able to get a real sense and feel for the sale, could see where the competition was coming from and probably on that odd occasion, went a little bit more with one or two extra bids to secure their purchase.
Regardless of how you engage with bidding, all bidders are treated in exactly the same way at the auction and although we run a fast paced sale, everyone has the same and equal opportunity to bid, irrelevant of whether they are in the room, on the internet or on the phone.
One thing you must do before you bid is carry out your due diligence properly. In the room we are selling and you are bidding to buy. On the fall of our gavel you have exchanged a binding contract, these contracts are not optional, you can’t change your mind after the event and ask for the contract to be “cancelled“. You are bidding in full knowledge of this and by bidding accept the terms and conditions of the contract offered and all other documentation so please, before you bid make sure you have done all of this.
Buyers guides are available on this web site and my team located throughout our various auction centres are here to help you in the lead-up to the auction.
We look forward to assisting with your enquiries and welcoming you to The Grand Connaught Rooms on Wednesday 9th March.
I wish you the best of luck with your bidding.
