Welcome to our first Auction Sale of 2023

to be held on Monday 6th February

We continue to offer buyers many ways to access bidding for this auction:

Bidding live at the auction is by far the best way to participate in the auction.  Since we returned to a live auction venue in September 2021 our data clearly shows that those who achieve the best success at auction are bidders who attend in-person.

Only by being at the auction itself can you get a real feel for the sale, see where other bids are coming from and be able to make that last second decision to put in one extra bid.  For the majority of buyers, a property purchase is one of the largest value asset you will ever buy, why leave it to chance of an internet or phone connection.

Our venue is right next to Covent Garden so why not combine your trip to the auction with a bit of shopping, a trip to the theatre or a celebratory meal out having been successful at the auction.  For nervous/ first time bidders this is the only place my team are on hand to help and advise as the auction proceeds.

Internet bidding is of course available and for those that cannot attend, an alternative way to access bidding on the day.  The sale is live streamed so you can watch and listen to the auctioneer but, you will never be able to engage in exactly the same way as being in the middle of the auction room.  If your internet connection isn’t high speed and reliable you could risk losing your ideal lot just for the sake of a trip to the auction.

Phone bidding is probably the best way of accessing the auction remotely.  You will have to complete all the documentation and telephone bidding form well before the sale.  When your lot comes up one of my team will call you, let you know exactly where the bidding has reached and give you the opportunity to bid.  Don’t forget though, we will call you from a land line but if we’re calling you on your mobile phone and your signal and connection drops out at the critical moment, you could lose your chance to buy.

Proxy bidding works very similar to phone bidding but instead of us calling you, we bid directly on your behalf on the day.  You provide us with a maximum figure, beyond which we cannot bid and we will do our best to secure the lot for you for the best price possible.  This is a secure way for you to bid but, you will miss out on the experience of the sale and all the excitement that goes with bidding in person.

So, however you chose to bid I am sure in this 320 lot catalogue you will find lots of interest.  My teams in all of our auction centres around the country are here to help with your enquiries in the lead up to the sale.  Take a look at this website where you will find, in addition to the lots and access to legal packs, plenty of advice for buyers to read.

I hope you will bid in person at The Grand Connaught Rooms and look forward to greeting you on the day, but before then, make sure you do all your due diligence before the sale.

Wishing you the best of luck with your bidding!
